Kick-Start Packs

Human primary cell culture presents a number of challenges unique to each cell type. Technical setbacks can often occur during the early stages of a project, as familiarity with a new cell type is learned, often incurring unexpected costs and loss of valuable time.

XCellR8 offers a range of Kick-Start Packs that enable the culture of human primary cell types to be rapidly and proficiently established, with the benefit of the direct advice of scientists experienced in the relevant field. They can be viewed as a crash course for scientists who need to hit the ground running for a short project, or as a valuable introduction when establishing a new technique for the longer term.

Our Kick-Start Packs are unique, and importantly, come with free access to our direct technical support services while you establish the technique in your laboratory. We guarantee that you will be supported by an appropriately qualified and experienced individual as needed.

Our Kick-Start Packs include the following sections:

Section 1: Introduction to the biology of the cell type and its in vitro requirements, including a bibliography of useful references.
Section 2: Health & Safety considerations.
Section 3: Sources of cells, media, supplements, reagents and other required materials.
Section 4: Protocols: establishing cultures; subculture; cryopreservation. Most packs include suggested protocols for scientists wishing to isolate their own cells in-house. Frequently Asked Questions are addressed within each section, and a selection of cell images provided.
Section 5: Taking it further: links to sources of information on related techniques; societies and journals involved in the relevant research field; where to get further help; other useful information.

Kick-Start Packs are available in the following cell types:

  • Human Epidermal Keratinocytes
  • Human Dermal Fibroblasts
  • Human Epidermal Melanocytes
  • Human Dermal Microvascular Endothelial Cells
  • Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells (HUVEC)
  • Human Smooth Muscle Cells
  • Human Mammary Epithelial Cells
  • Human Osteoblasts
  • Human Chondrocytes

Please contact us with a specific request if you require a Kick-Start Pack for a cell type not listed above.
